ugh. i very rarely post on the weight watcher forums but they have a forum for brides-to-be so i posted a question regarding dress alterations. i said i was waiting until the last minute to get my dress because i planned on losing 40-50 pounds by the wedding. you'd think these would be supposrtive forums since we're all in the same boat but instead everyone started posting about how unrealistic my goal was and that i should just pick a different dress.

i never really get upset about what people on the internet say, i don't know them and i don't care about them, but it made me really upset to have so many people telling me i couldn't do it.

apparently they love drama because they also started new threads regarding mine where they just made fun of me.

it's stupid but i'm really upset about this.

maybe it is an unrealistic goal (though i don't think 8-10 pounds a month is so outrageous), but it's just what i'd *like* to lose. i'm not going to be super depressed if it doesn't happen.

Screw them. They're just jealous of you. They think that because they can't lose 50 pounds then you can't either.

Two pounds a week is a healthy and realist goal. It is what any trainer will tell you.

Now here is some 1st grade math:

2 lbs a week x 4 weeks in a month = 8 lbs a month. Confused I don't understand what is so difficult with that.

I think that you can do anything you put your mind to. Sure, it'll be hard, but impossible nope!

Keep your head up!

Ps. I would write an email to someone in charge and let them know how unsupportive your experience was and how you will detore any friends from participating.

First of all, I think you look cute, so there.

Second of all, I have experienced some of their meetings, and it seems like it is just a big pity party. "oh I screwed up and ate____ and Im so bad" and then "oh no youre not you will do better and love yourself the way you are" blah blah blah. I say go for it, but don't tie your weight loss to your self worth. gotta sho love for the ladies no matter what size!

So, what does this dress look like?

christy, there certainly weren't any math majors there! they were all going on about how unrealistic my goal is and that ww doesn't recommend more than 2 pounds a week. i pointed out that my goal is 40-50 pounds, there are 22 weeks until my wedding, 2 pounds per week would take me to 44, which just so happens to be between 40-50! dumb health forum.

thanks silly! what's your name? if you go to the david's bridal website it's style #h8665. i'm actually thinking of taking a picture of it to a seamstress. i don't think it would be too hard to make something similar.

thanks terra, good to know you've got my back!

2 - 2 1/2 pounds a week is realistic - which is practically the same as your 8-10 pounds per month.

thing is you have done it before and I know if you make up your mind to do it then you will succeed.
I guess they are jealous that their weight loss isn't anywhere near what you aim for.

I wouldn't go over the 2 1/2 pounds per week and don't do it by starvation - be sensible and determined.

First- Wow, that dress is amazing, I love it soooooo much.

Second- You can totally lose that much weight. They are just jealous that you are so motivated. I think you look good but if you will feel better on your wedding day weighing less, then I say go for it.

Third- as to alterations, they are frigging expensive so maybe order the size that you think you will be and then you won't have to keep getting it taken in. I lost 15 lbs before my wedding and my alterations cost me over $100. My mom wasn't very happy about that.

i think theyre just jealous , cuz they dont have the willpower to lose weight and prob aimed for 5lbs a month and couldnt hack it. With determination, specially with a wedding and dieting properly u can do it, its a realistic goal, any dr would say it was as long as you do it correctly and not starving , over excersizing etc. Sucks theyre depressed about there weight and gotta bring there frustration out on someone ya know.

thank you girls!

i don't know why i even bothered posting over there. i get plenty of support here and i love you all!

i'm still doing the ww program and i've started exercising every day, so i think it's a healthy approach.

i'm so in love with that dress. the only problem is it only goes up to a size 16, which is probably more like a 12, and i'm nowhere near that right now. what makes it even harder is i tried it on pre-finn and it fit (couldn't quite zip it all the way), so i know there was a time when i could get into it. i'm about 35 pounds heavier than i was when i tried it on so now i'm kind of fixated on that weight because i want that dress so badly.

well, we'll see what happens. last week i lost 2.5 and that was without any exercise.

If you work on toning your muscles the dress will fit better. The more toned the muscle the more compact they become and you can slide into things easier. Try doing some muscle toning exercises and I think that you will be amazed by the results.

*warning* sometime you pickup a little bit of weight whenever you start toning because toned muscle weighs more than untoned.

hopefully it works out, when i got pregnant my hips got wider wich sucks cuz they will never go back, im one of the losers that would set a goal and not stick to it, so right now i just try my best to eat right for now. i cant do weight watchers here they wont send anything here Sad pooey for living overseas. my mom did like a weight watchers thing called T.O.P.S, take off pounds sensible, she lost alot of weight on it they had like weekyl meetings etc, she was like 160 or something she looked really good. now she has gained it all back . but if ur dedicated it can and will work out for ya. i just suck at sticking to goals haha. but i wouldnt take out my frustrations for not losing weight on someone that is doing better then me, they just have more willpower then i do lmao and determination.

how is a goal unrealistic? there is no limit to what you can do....people are angry and make fun of others. you have nothing to prove to anyone especially on the net. you can do it and you will!!!
