Are any of you using Nasocort or any other nasal spray with Triamcinolone in it? It seems like my dents showed up after I started using it. Please let me know.

dent on forehead near hairline
i have also found a dent the past few yeaars (I am now 62), it went slightly bigger a few years ago but has not altered since. No problems otherwise, never get headaches, but do worry sometimes so am glad I found this site. I was born with forceps delivery and my husband said that as you get older your skull alters etc., and he thinks it is nothing and not noticeable, depends which light I am looking in with mirror etc. Hope it is nothing but got scared when I read about people mentioning tumours etc., mine seems to feel as thought the bone goes in a little. Really feel it may be the forceps from birth as they would be used in that position I think. Anybody else got this and had forceps delivery?

Huge dent too
I've suffered from headaches for years. The doctors have always related them to stress/hormones and migraine medicine sometimes works, But in the back of my head (literally) I wonder, could it be that huge dent? I've had it for as long as I can remember, but I swear its getting bigger. Its where my soft spot would have been as a baby and is about 3" by 2" wide with a substantial dip. I worry all the time that there's something wrong with me, but then I think maybe I'm crazy to think a head dent is a real problem. It's a little comforting to know that I'm not the only one out there with a freakish head dent. Thank you

My Mom too...
My mom had an xray so far over the past year she has experienced skullerosion on the frontal bone, accompanied by dizziness, loss of balance or coordination, severe frontal/sinus headaches, vision issues, memory loss (loses cell phone all the time) and fatigue. Meanwhile the doc stares at her strangely and has no clue what it is.
Her xray came back Negative the doctor said. Yet she asked for the radiologists' report and just received it today...it had a whole other story.
It noticed visible Skull Erosion due to either AVM or meningiomas. They reported to do a CT Scan with Contrast and an MRI. yet the doctor called and said don't worry about it you're fine!
Needless to say she will call her neurologist monday to have the tests ordered. I will follow up with you all...just though this might help.
also check into osteomyelitis!!!It can cause the same dents

dent at the top of the head
I agree with user "dented". Some many of you have had brain scans that did not show any problems that it sounds like the dent on the top of the head is nothing to be too worried about. This is not related to craniosynostosis (prematurely closing of the cranial sutures) I take it? The link to migraines and such can only be made if there is a randomly selected control group none of whom have dents on the top of their heads to compare with, right?

I too have a dent on the top of my head above where the hair line is I suppose. It's been at the back of my mind (so to speak) for many years and I often wonder what could have caused it. I know I was hurled against the wall as a baby and and that could be why; and I may have been "extracted" with forceps, and that could by why too. But these are just guesses. I don't suffer from headaches etc but I've got bad vision (don't know if that's related) and often times when I'm trying to think of a maths problem and I'm getting nowhere I "feel" the dent!

I notice I have two little dents as well
My muscles all kinda spasm to around this area. It's actually on top of my head that all along the "temporal line". I just notice this causes my muscles around my temples and top of ear to spasm. At times it feels better at times it feels worse.

http://www.csuchico.edu/anth/Module/skull. html

It makes sense where it's at due to the break--down of the skull.

Honestly, I think it's one of those benign/annoying things I'll have to live with. Once I get a better doctor w/o nurses, I might go to the Dr. again. Last time they said my calcium was high (although I drank like 3/4 of a gallon of vit D. calcium OJ, the weekend b4, it sounded odd; I just hope it isn't parathyroid).

skull dent
I recently discovered a dent in my skull too. I think it is smaller in the morning and gets deeper/a little bigger as the day goes on. I hope it doesn't grow. I think when I first noticed it, it hurt a little and tingled a bit, and was tender to the touch, and I had had some bad headaches, but now it doesn't hurt or anything, and the headaches have gone. It's just there. I don't know how I got it, but I definitely didn't have it before. I don't know whether I should go to the doctor or not, because they will probably tell me that it is nothing serious. It sounds like there is no medical explanation that doctors know about. If anyone gets news on what this might be that would be great. Thanks.

Also, I have used nasal spray come to think of it. Maybe that was it?

skull dent
I also have a dent at the top, back apart of my head.I am a female, 28 years old, pretty healthy, exercise 3-4 times a week. When I would run my fingers through my hair like I always do it just started hurting one day. Not a bad pain but irritating. I read just about every reply here and it seems we all have the same thing... I have migraines and headaches, I usually take Tylenol and it helps, I have been getting dizzy lately, my eye sight is blurry some times, but the eye doctors says my eyes are good. I see some people have had electrical shot! I was electrocuted when I was around 9 really bad, but my mom never took me to the doctors??? My uncle also had a brain aneurysm when he was in his late 30s. I asked my doctor about it one day when I was in for something else, she said it was nothing! But, me and my husband are worried about it! please post any one finds anything out.

skull dent
Yes, me too. And I'm glad I found this forum to see how common this problem is - though serious when you don't know what it is. I have the two parallel dents running back from the 'soft spot' about 2 inches long and 1/4 inch deep. I am 42. I also first noticed them because of headache pain under the area, and they are getting deeper or shallower daily for me as well. Today I was actually startled to find them so changed from yesterday. I've only noticed them for about a week now. As I first looked on the web for descriptions of the skull bones to see if the denting is in the area of the junction of the plates, I read that this soft spot is something that pediatricians check as a sign of dehydration in infants - and this could very well be our problem as well. But I also can confirm the theory of wearing glasses on the top of the head being part of the problem. I must wear safety glasses for work, and when not in use they are on top of my head where invariably I will get banged into something right on them. So my guess is that the irratating glasses must be causing the dentations in the soft tissue layers on the top of the skull, which are not fully hydrated properly to begin with. The bruising bumps can be causing inflammation. I think dehydration is a pretty good guess, since our water retention does vary throughout the day and night. Just thought I'd mention it.

Dent
My daughter (21) noticed a significant dent in her skull also. Fairly large right up at the crown and another smaller one forming lower on her skull. She has never had steroid injections so thats off the table. She has suffered from migrains throughout her life... but I think those have subsided in recent years. She is currently pregnant so I hesitate to suggest she change her diet right now. Please keep the information coming... it seems there are still more questions than answers out there.

dents in head
I e-mailed the doctors on this website about a dent that suddenly appeared on my husbands forehead. He will not go to the doctors and I am terrified its something terrible. I have been waiting 8 days for a reply is this normal they keep delaying the rply by saying they are 'updating' the website. I find this very unsatisfactory and frustrating. Why set up the website if they dont answer the questions . I am going to delete my account and not bother with this waste of time

dent
I am a 17 year old male, 6'5, 200lbs. I to have a dent on the back top part of my head, about 3in long, 2 1/2 in wide, and and is really deep, i can feel the to sides of the bone, and then it sinks down, it is very big and very scary, sometimes it feels strong and sometimes its likes there is no bone there at all, like my finger will just go to the brain. I push on it really hard and i can't help it and now im starting to think my skull isn't as strong as normal peoples, so i put a hand on each side of my head and push together to see if my skull will break, and i do it over and over. I am so scared of dying, but i can't help it, i'm going crazy its like i can't enjoy anything, i'm just always worrying, i went and got an X-ray and said everything was fine, But im worried because i don't want to accidentally kill myself. Do you think if your pushing on both sides of your skull, they it can just break or something, please write back thank you.

dent on leftside of skull, numbness, burning pain, bone lesions
I also have a dent on the left side of the skull it feels like a hard lump. I had an MRi of the brain done in January 2009 and it shows a bone lesion on the left side of the frontal calvarium. A bone scan showed additional lesions on the right side of the calvarium. The radiologist said that these lesions were not related to the lesion found on my left side frontal calvarium. My head feels numb and it burns constantly. I feel like I am wearing a helmet, only thicker on the left side (3 inches thick on left and 1 inch thick on the right. Also a ct scan showed swelling of the soft tissue in the scalp left side. I have suffered with pain on the left side of my body for years. Arm pain so much so that I was diagnosed with TOS and my first rib on the left side was removed surgically in 2005. My arm still hurts alot and my head is worse now than before. I have a constant headache for the last 5 months. I am still waiting to have the bone lesions examine and determine what is the cause and if they are benign or malignant. If any one has an idea of what all this symptoms represents please advise. thanks for allowing me to vent. Elena

We should stop worrying about the dents on our heads
I am 59 and first noticed two dents when I was 55 from the forehead running back about 2 inches. No pain or anything. They went away about a year later. Now I see they are back. Since so many people have this I'm not going to worry about it any more. I do have continuous sinus congestion but I always thought the dents might be related to dehydration but maybe not. Also I have always had signs of migraines (the shattered glass spots in my vision) but never have headaches. We should all stop worrying about it since so many of us have it and nothing becomes of it. I'm glad I found this site.

Same Boat
I also have the dent that starts at the hairline and runs back, just found it 3 mths ago, i periodically check it through out the day and sometimes it is sunk in really deep... i have bad headaches, ear hurts often, arm hurts often, i have the "electric shock" feeling that runs through my head also! But i drink LOTS of water almost everyday, and i cant tell any difference on the days that i dont drink as much water as ususal, so i do NOT agree with the dehidration theory. i am going to talk with my doctor tomorrow to see what she says... i think its a neurological issue!

Non-painful head dent from sunglasses
Hello, fellow dented-head people! A couple of days ago I discovered a dent on the top right side of my head about 2 inches back from my hairline and about 2-3 inches long extending toward the back of my head. It is coincidentally along my hair part and is about 1/4" wide.

Anyway, I think Heddy (who commented on page 2) is onto something with the sunglasses theory! I have been periodically wearing my sunglasses on my head this week and just put them on and ran them back and forth on the top of my head. Wouldn't ya know it, it rubbed right along my dent! The only thing that doesn't quite make sense is that I've often worn my sunglasses on my head throughout my life and never had this "problem".

I think that if you have a pain-free dent (not accompanied by migraines, dizziness, tingling, etc.) you shouldn't worry too much about it. Of course if there are other symptoms, you should seek medical help. I Googled my head dent out of sheer curiosity and am hoping that I'm right about it just being from my sunglasses.

For those of you looking for similarities in dented head cases, I'm a 26 year old female living in an arid climate who does wear sunglasses on my head. I don't think I'm dehydrated and have no reason to believe I'm gluten intolerant. I've noticed a fair amount of young women who posted in this forum and know that many young women wear sunglasses on their head like me.

Good luck to all of you looking for answers! I'll post an update if I have any news.

I should welcome myself on people with dented skull Sad
I just noticed it last night. And unfortunately, the hair around that dented area is getting lesser.
