Hi,

I'm new here. But i'm wondering if u could help me out with this problem. I have whitish discharge that is heavy or moderate most of the time, but the thing is, its always smelly...and i've had this problem from when i was like in early teens after my periods started an all. Now am 22 and the problem isn't as severe as it used to be but its there.

Theres no pain or ichiness or anything else...its just smelly.

Could u give me some advise, help on how to deal with this? I'm a very shy person and its very hard for me to open up and ask someone for help on this, thats why i it took sooo long to finally pop the question when i came across this website.

Thanks

Rela

Sounds likely like a yeast overgrowth. Here's a quick test. When you get up in the morning, don't eat or drink anything. Get a glass of water, get a good wad of spit going, and spit in it. Don't disturb it and come back in about 15-30 minutes. If you see white particles floating in the middle, a white mass at the bottom, or especially stringy strands coming down from the top like spider webs almost, it's likely a yeast problem easily corrected with probiotics, which depending on severity can easily be taken by simply eating plain yogurt for a period of time.

Interesting
Thats a really interesting test. I have the same issue with white discharge. I wear a panty liner and eat yogurt everyday and drink plenty of water.

Good luck.

There's a little more to it than just eating yogurt, and I assume it's just plain. You have to avoid certain foods for awhile as well.

As far as I know it can be easily treated with a probiotic regimen. Some extreme diets suggest avoiding fruit and even sometimes bread, but you should be fine eliminating any kinds of bad sweets like soda and such and white bread, replacing the latter, for example, with whole grain. Have you ever had heavy dosage anti-biotic treatments recently or a few years ago?

Just curious because typically in cases of this the individual had antibiotic usage at some point before, usually for an extended period of time. Try the test and let me know what happens.

Actually you may have something called bacterial vaginosis. I had the same issues and kept treating it as a yeast infection. Usually with a yeast infection there is no smell but there is a possibilty that you could have bv and a yeast infection at the same time. Bv isnt an std its just an overgrowth of the bacteria normally found in your vagina. It will not go away on its own and epending on how long youve had the infection can determine how long it takes for it to go away. You may have several treatments of either the gel or pill form of metronidazole.

Been There Done That....
Sounds like BV. You have to be careful with your sexual partner also. He can re-infect you. I had to use it after intercourse to prevent getting it again. One doctor told me that the PH level in my husband's sperm and the PH in my vagina may have cause my PH levels to be high. This was in our early years of marriage. It's better now. Metro Gel was a blessing for me.
