Q: Panic Attk As I Fall Asleep

I'm getting an adrenaline rush through my torso right as I fall asleep. It wakes me up so many times and is also accompanied by a light-headed feeling just before it happens. I've had to go back on amitriptyline, but I really don't like taking it. What would be the best antidepressant to treat panic attks as you fall asleep ? And I don't get any panic attks during the day. Does anyone have an idea of what's going on ?

Anything in particular you're doing before you go to bed? How soon are you eating before bed and what is it usually? Do you have racing thoughts or confused thoughts right before this happens (you may simply be becoming aware of your brain slipping into dream state and this may be frightening you)?

I'm not thinking about anything when it happens. It seems to happen on its own. Well, I've been noticing I am having a panicky feeling during the day sometimes, so it's not just at night. Although I can control it better since I'm wide awake.

When does it usually happen, where and does there seem to be any connection to anything you're doing (think hard, could be something you ate, something you drank, someone around you, etc.)?
