Q: How long should I wear my carpal tunnel brace?
asked by: DoctorQuestion on May 2nd, 2007
I am confused about how long I should wear my carpal tunnel brace. The doctor I saw said to wear it "until it stops hurting."

Shouldn't I be wearing it for a minimum period of time? All my fingers tingle and/hurt every day-or as soon as I remove the brace.

I wanted a plan from the doctor to get rid of my hand pain; and instead I got short-term advice to prevent/reduce the symptoms.

Thanks in advance if you can help.

Diagnosis that has been suggested: Left hand: Carpal tunnel and ulnar nerve compression.
Current medical status: Recently visited a pain management center and diagnosed.
Current medical treatment: Carpal tunnel brace."

Surgical intervention, or nerve decompression, is often the final solution for carpal tunnel syndrome. You can consult an orthopedist about this and other alternatives for treating carpal tunnel..
