I'm about 5 weeks now. I only see reddish/brown stuff when I wipe after using the bathroom; and it comes and goes. Somedays it's more and somedays there's nothing. My doctor knows about it and i've seen him 3 times already and he told me to take it easy. Confused I guess i'm just getting worried since I had a mc last sept. Any advise would be greatly appreciated. Crying or Very sad

Implantation bleeding is just that - bleeding while the egg is implanting in the uterus. This occurs a couple weeks before you even miss your period, so what she's experiencing isn't implantation bleeding.

Just take your doctor's advice and take it easy for a little while. Are you experiencing any cramping with this discharge? If not, then you probably have nothing to worry about. Many women experience spotting during early pregnancy. Congrats!

Actually, during early pregnancy up through about six weeks along the embryo continues to implant deeper into the uterine lining. Spotting in early pregnancy is common and doesn't always mean something bad. Just take it easy and if anything changes contact your doctor.

There is no cramping at all; just the reddish/brown discharge (but it's not as thick as discharge?). I've been taking my vitamins and eating right (as much as I can) so hopefully everything will be fine.

I was at my dr. last Sat. and he was able to see the sac has doubled in size but he wasn't able to see anything inside the sac. My HCG level went up but wasn't as high as he thought it would be.

Thanks for all your advise. I'm going back to my dr. this Sat. hopefully I'll have some good news for you guys. I hope he sees something inside the sac this time. Smile

I went to see my dr. on Sat. and so far so good. We saw the baby's heart beat. The discharge/spotting has stopped, just hope that it will continue to stay away. Smile

implantation bleeding does not occur a couple weeks before you miss your period, and neither does it occur once you are pregnant.

you typically ovulate about 14 days before your period is due.
this is when the sperm can fertilise the egg.
the fertilised egg then continues it's journey down the fallopian tubes.
this typically takes about 10 days.
so for an average person with a typical cycle implantation bleeding (which si not common and definately not experienced by everyone) happens around 4 days before your missed period.

Hi everyone. Everything was going pretty well until I went to the bathroom this morning; when I wiped I saw light brown discharge. I just went to the bathroom a little while ago and I saw some more. I'm going to see the dr. tomorrow. In the mean time any advise?

Re:brown Spotting
Hey there, my name is Shannah and I am 10wks along and I have had brown spotting all through this pregnancy. It first started at 6wks so my doctor sent me for blood work to check my HCG levels. At one point they actually dropped so she was concerned and sent me for an emergency ultrasound and more blood work because she thought that I was having a mc. At around 7 wks my hcg levels went back up and the ultrasound showed my baby with a nice strong heartbeat and it was the right size. My doctor says that somethings are just a mystery and that they haven't any medical explanation for them.

So try not to worry I have made it to 10 wks and I still have brown spotting. It seems much lighter then what it was in the beginning. When it first started it was so dark it looked like chocolate.(tmi) It doesn't happen everyday it just comes and goes.

So stay positive and don't think the worst.

Good luck
