I am a 17 year old female, and have always been affected by Spider Nevi.
I currently have around 20 on my arms and on my hands, and have previously had them on my face, neck and belly. I know these are not spots of any other kind.
I have always been told by my father, a practicing GP, that they are nothing to worry about and are simply a result of sun exposure.
However, my friend who is studying medicine recently warned me that these can be the sign of an underlying disease, namely Cirrhosis.
I also read that they can occur because of pregnancy or use of contraceptive pills, but I do not use oral contraceptives and am definitely not pregnant. And I have been getting them all my life, so I doubt this has any relevance to me.
I wanted to know whether Spider Nevi are often seen on people as a result of sun damage to the skin, or if it is more likely to be a result of another condition.
Thank You for your help in advance.
