Hi I need advice form a doc or any competent person who has good knowledge of cause of elevated liver enzymes and prolactin. Couple of days ago I decided I take blood work to see if things are normal. I test Hemoglobin, total bilirubin, ALP, AST, ALT, GGT, glucose fasting, HDL, LDL, TSH, Testosterone, Triglyceride, Estradiol, and Prolactin. Every thing came back in range except for Hemoglobin, AST, ALT, GGT, and Prolactin. Hemoglobin was slightly high 166g/L the high range is 165g/L. ALP was normal at 77U/L however, AST was slightly elevated at 49U/L and ALT and GGT where almost double at the high range at 108 U/L and 105 U/L respectively. Elevated AST, ALT and γ-GT levels could indicate some liver damage. Liver damage can be a side effect of taking androgenic, anabolic and anti-estrogen drugs called holestatic hepatitis. You can repeat the laboratory tests and request additional, new tests (HBs-Ag and Anti-HCV) to exclude Hepatitis B and C as possible reasons for the symptoms you report.
Increased levels of prolactin are often due to a disorder in the axis hypothalamus-pituitary gland. The same disorder might be the reason you’ve taken androgenic and anabolic drugs. But I'm not sure because you haven't mentioned why you are taking these drugs. Nonetheless, you can consult an endocrinologist about your problem.
