For the past couple weeks, I have a feeling that my throat just under my jawline is very tight, like it's been strained. Also, the back of my neck at the base of my skull hurts. I do have copd and I take armour thyroid. I can't remeber doing anything to bring this on.

It sounds like it could be a tension headache. You may want to bring this to your doctors attention. There is a couple of tension headache medications that are available by prescription. I personally take phrenilin and it works great. I also think that excedrine makes a tension headache formula that works, just not as well. I hope your feeling better soon!

Throat Tightness
Thank you for your reply. I don't have headaches. I think it might be from stress. I am short of breath from COPD and I'm trying to use my lungs more to breathe as I recently discovered that I am using my assessory muscles in my chest and neck to breathe with.

Tension headaches are kind of a broad term. If you are having tightness in your neck or between your shoulder blades it is still classified as a tension headache.

Have you spoken to your doctor about your accessory muscle use? Maybe some muscle relaxers would help.

Throat Tightness
Hello, My doctors are all very much aware about my concern that I am using my accesory muscles. They just tell me to breathe from my diaphragm which I have been trying to do. I'll just have to try on my own.Thank you for trying to help me. I'm probably trying too hard and that makes me tense up.

Sorry that I couldn't be of more help, But I'm really not familiar with this.

Maybe a nice bath would help. I hope your feeling better soon!
