i have sufferd hypoglycemia for about 5 years, it interferes with my life. When i walk in hot weather or cold weather i have to eat sometimes every hour to a hour and a half to try to keep my sugar level up .i experience tiredness and a drained feeling most of the time.
If i have gone 7 hours though the night and then had my breakfast which would be porridge, shredded wheat or wetabix this can make my sugar go up very high after an hour and on the next hour go very low. Can this damage any organs in your body as i feel that this is very severe what i suffer.

You shouldn't be going that long and not feeling good. Five years is way too long, you're not doing something right.

I suggest you see your doctor and have some blood work done. Hypoglycemia is dangerous as you can faint from low blood sugar.

As well, it does not help you in the long run if you eat foods high in sugars, because you only feel the sugar highs for a bit, then your sugar levels rapidly drop, making you hypoglycemic.

Have a meal plan and follow the plan. You can consider seeing a dietitian for help with meal planning.

Your brain functions only on sugars, carbohydrates, and since these are short lasting, consider having something other than foods full of carbohydrates. Try some protein, as they produce more energy and last longer.

I hope this helps.

Ditto!
Hi Eileen

just so you know - this is exactly how I feel and have felt for some time. Mornings are often the worst as I have to get up and have breakfast asap and then an hour later feel awful!

i have gone to a nutritionist and start my new eating plan on Tuesday, if you want more info on what happened to me, I'll be happy to email you!

Sunlizard Very Happy
