From what I've read, this is normal. There are several topics in this forum on the same subject, maybe they can help explain better.

It depends. Have you had sex yet? Do you shower often? If you have had sex is it unprotected? Answer these questions and I will answer as best as possible

Ok then you most likely have nothing at all to worry about.
I am your age and I also have had the condition you have had if it is the same thing. I thought it was HPV at first which made me freak out but if you have never had sex then it can't be that. I recently went to the doctor on my condition and he said it was a Jock rash (I don't know if I spelled that right). It is a fungal infection nothing to worry about. The first medication the doctor perscribed to me (a cream) didn't work so now I am on the second medication to see if it will work (hopefully). I seriously doubt that you have anything to worry about. Go to the doctor and get it checked out. Just tell your parents you have an infection and they shouldn't care or get mad because you have not caused it in any way. My doctor wasn't critical at all when I went. The only bad part was a little embarrassment from having the inspection from the doctor and embarrassment from your parents of having to bring it up.

JJbrown, I'm glad you went to the doctor because it sounded like you were really worried before. Also glad you realize that you cannot get STD's from masturbation. If I may make a recommendation for your condition, and it may sound odd, but if you do have a fungal infection there is something cheap and effective you could try. Urine. Yep, your own urine. However, don't go against doctors orders.
