Is It Uncommen to Be Off of Work At This Stage In Pregnancy? Posted: 04-28-07 12:07pm
Im 31 weeks and I keep having menstral
cramps. At the first of this month was
when I was working and got rushed to the
hospital. The pain was horrible, the
doctors said it was contractions. Since
then I have had a high risk doctor and
they took me off of work. Is it uncommen
to be off of work at this stage in
pregnancy? ---- My job: Im an asst manager
at a gas station and we work 10 hour
shifts standing, thats why they dont want
me to work.

If you're considered high risk, then it's
not uncommon at all. Some women are put on
bed rest at 20 weeks or earlier.
I was personally taken off of work by my
doctor in the middle of .june for
complications with my hip, and I didn't
give birth until .august 10th. I wasn't
considered high risk, either.
If you're off of work until you give
birth, I suggest finding something to
occupy your time. You will very quickly
start getting bored! Books, tv shows,
knitting or cross stitching, playing games
online, etc... they can help save your
sanity!

I've been off work since 21 weeks because
I had to have surgery. Now I'm 28 weeks
and while I'm not on bed rest, I'm not
working or anything and I'm losing my
mind. That's why I keep posting on here.
I have nothing better to do. I'm totally
depressed today because I'm so bored and I
get so lonely during weekdays. I was
hoping someone would do something with me
today but nobody wants to do anything so
my weekend is going to be a big waste and
I'll be all alone the rest of the week.
Sorry, I just gotta vent a little, I'm
going stir crazy and my boyfriend keeps
asking me "what's wrong?" If he asks me
that one more time I think I'll scream.

I have been off work since 13 weeks due to
a high risk pregnancy. I can see why the
doctor wouldn't want you to work.
With my first pregnancy, I worked up until
two weeks before my due date. That
pregnancy wasn't considered high risk.
Good luck with everything.
