Last year, around July, I experienced a severe testicular torsion. After an initial trip to the emergency room, the doctor that night sent me home, thinking that it corrected itself and advised me to see an urologist the following Monday. The next morning I woke up with an enlarged testicle, and the pain began to return. I visited another hospital with an urologist on call, they did an ultrasound and found that not only did my testicle torsion, the spermatic cord somehow 'knotted' itself around my epidemus, and had cut off blood for an extended period, the urologist got me into surgery ASAP and he had spoken to me about a possible amputation...

I came out of the surgery with both testicles and went to all my follow up visits... the urologist performed the orchiopexy on both of my testicles, to avoid future reoccurences... as far as the urologist could tell, I was fine. I have noticed now, after started back into sexual activities, that the testicle that had torsioned is extremely smaller than the other and feels firm... I have spoken with an urologist and he feels that it is just inflamed, but it's been months, he assured me that in time it would be restored... initially both were considerably smaller, one has returned to normal, but the torsioned testicle still remains much smaller. Should I get a second opinion from another urologist, I'm concerned if the testicle is 'dead' and needs to be removed... any ideas?

Thanks for reading.

If it was totally dead, it would have gone septic by now and poisoned you to death Smile However, I too would seek out a secondary opinion, just to be sure.
