I have posted on another thrrad about this problem but I think it deserves to be in this this forum now.
For over 12 months I have all kinds of tummy pains that have mainly been gripe types yet so severe I have collapsed in pain, worse than natural child birth. I was also sick of nauseas & would go as pale as a ghost & get a kind of chill. These always came on half hour exactly after eating & became more regularly to the point I was having attacks every other day. Kept being rushed to A & E (ER) or taken home from work.
Anyway after an ultra sound it showed I had gallstones & was put on a 6 month waiting list . I continued to have all the pains & was given many differing strong pain killers that didn't take the worst pains off. One dr said the bowel type pains were nothing to do with the gallbladder but then another said it was because of the stones bile wasn't being released into my bowel when eating, hence the pains.
My gallbladder was removed 7 weeks ago & it was in a worse state than expected, it was full of pus & a large stone as blocking my duct. Blood leaked onto my pain causing me a longer hospital stay.
I recovered well but have just got over my second bout of the bowel pains, the ones dr's said I wouldn't have no more. The typical gallbladder pains have gone. I saw the dr again yesterday he now says its appears to still be a bilary problem as my motions keep going very pale which suggest bile isn't being released again. He thinks there maybe debri left after the surgery so he is sending me for an MRI scan (6 - 8 weeks to wait) & also wants to test my stools for possible pancreas defiency although he expects this to be ok.
I know you have posted on my thread in the other forums sillyachick but thought others on here may have simlar symptoms. Does anyone know what I can expect to happen if there is debri left behind or I do have pancreas deficiency?
I feel I must also point out that I have Scleroderma (CREST). I also have a hiatus hernia, inflamed stomach & small fibroids.

Thought I would add, I have noticed an itching over my body sometimes but I get no particular rash, just an occasional spot. I have noticed this is worse when my bowels are playing up. I have serached the net & it appears to be linked to all my problems.
Anyone else get the itch?

pain after gallbladder removal
Your story sounds very similar to mine. I had my gallbladder removed in 1996. I felt fine for years though, until August 2004. I had what felt like the worst gallbladder attack of my life, it sent me to hospital but I have yet to be diagnosed even now in May 2009. They are going to do an MRCP which i've never had before and I pray to God it shows something that can be resolved. I now live with constant gallbladder pain. It is robbing me of my life.
As for the itching OH MY GOSH YES....I itch somewhere off and on all day every day

mike_karen99,

Your story is identical to mine. Had gallbladder removed in 2000 and was fine till 2007. Since then, I've been getting same kind of attacks as when I had gallstones and as time goes on, they are more and more frequent and take longer (days) before I actually feel like myself again. I've had every test that I could think of done and all comes out ok.
Have you had any luck?

Hi everyone. Go back and see your docs. The itching is caused by a back up of liver metabolites from a blocked or narrow bile duct. You may need to have your bile duct dilated. Its a simple procedure that is done as an out patient. I actually suffer with the same problem but thankfully have the education under my belt to puch my docs to dig a little deeper. Best of luck to you all and feel better.
