Hi everyone :d

just found this board. Brief introduction. I am 32 years old. Just had a laparoscopic assisted vaginal hysterectomy on january 14th due to endometriosis, adenomyosis, heavy periods. Everything removed except for my remaining right ovary. I had the surgery done out of state up in virginia. We live in north carolina. My post-op was 2 1/2 weeks ago. Dr never did an exam to check how everything was healing. Anyway, this is what has been going on. Been bleeding since the surgery. Bright pink with some bright red blood. Went to a local ob/gyn last thursday, who cauterized a tear. Had to go back monday to have it recauterized due to it not holding. She noted that not only do I have the tear but also my vaginal cuff looked like a badly skinned knee with bright red blood oozing out of several areas. Well, yesterday, I started bleeding again. Call dr up in virginia who said this was normal. Dr here who saw how things looked said this is not normal. What should I do? It is heavy bleeding when I first get up in the morning. Is this normal? Any information would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
tara s

I had a total hysterectomy but not a vaginal one, still I think that the basics apply for all operations - after op bleeding is bad!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I don't know why you had to go out of state or chose to but get to the local ob/gyn & get things fixed, if money is the problem i'd consider what your life is worth?? Or at least get another opinion.

Yeah I totally agree with purple. Get to the doctor! If neither one is doing anything for you then get a different one, but for goodness sakes you are risking terrible infection or dare I say, death? Definately get help, please! And let us know what happens.

After my hysterectomy I was sent home and I also was bleeding. The hospital didnt know this at the time. But they released me with a 101 fever that they couldnt get down.My first day home I felt like I had the worst flu you could imagine.I called my doctor and he said I was just stressing the pain. The second day I didnt have the strength to even lift my arm or my head. My husband carried me to the car then the hospital. There I found out that I was hemorrhaging. There I had a blood transfussions a.S.A.P and they too had to go and find my source of bleeding. All the blood gathered in my vaginal area and bottom it was like I was sitting on a black balloon. I had a abdominal hysterectomy. I think if your bleeding there has to be a leak. They told me I shouldnt be bleeding at all except the old surgical blood.I would get a answer until I was sure that I was fine.
