tonight was finn's first *fun* bath. i've been bathing him in the sink ever since he outgrew the sling part of his tub because he sloshed too much water on the counter if he was in his tub. i have a bad back and it was just easier to wash him in the sink rather than bending over our bathtub, but now he's too big for the sink. it actually wasn't bad on my back, i washed him quickly and then sat back and let him play. i don't know why i hadn't done this sooner!

anyway, he had a blast! i'm going to make this part of his bedtime routine, he was wiped out when we were done.

and now you get to see him in all his chunky glory! check out those jugs!

i tried to take a picture of his wrinkly feet but it didn't quite turn out right-

the end.

What a big boy! I never let Ava play in the tub yet. We just lay her on a yellow bath sponge and bath her. I don't have a blue tub like that. I'm too nervous to let her sit, she may fall over and hit her head on the hard tub.

is anyone else's baby super-buoyant? It's hard to keep .alyvia's tush on the bottom!

betsy, you should look into a tub or a bath seat. a couple girls here recommended an inflatable duck tub (i think munchkin makes it) from target. finn loved playing and splashing, i'm sure ava would too! i was going to just put him in the tub but was worried his butt would slip out from under him and i remembered his old tub, so we used that. i'm going to get a ring seat whenever i can find one.

jamie, i don't even know how he got so chunky! he doesn't get much solid food and he only gets 24 ounces of formula a day. glad to see he's not alone in the baby boobie club!

thanks laura! your pecs comments made me laugh.

he's at a great age, he just gets more and more fun each day!

The black rubber ducky is the cutest. We are in the process of redoing Jaylons room in a rubber ducky theme. we have a ton of colors, but I've never seen black

thanks nancy! he does have good posture sometimes but that duck wasn't on there long, he wouldn't stop whipping his head around and taking everything in. sometimes if he's sitting on the floor playing he sits up ridiculously straight, it looks unnatural.

at 4 1/2 months he weighed 18.5 lbs and was 27" long. i'm guessing he's about 20 lbs now, he's sooo heavy.

Christian was 19.6 lbs at 4.5 months. I can't carry him around anymore. My lower back is shot!

funny you said that about your back. i *just* bent over to get finn out of his jumper and i was like "oh god, i can't straighten up". i've always had a bad back but in the past couple months since he's really gotten heavy i've thrown it out too many times to count. i don't really know what to do about it, all his entertainers are low to the floor and i have to bend to get him in and out of them, as well as bending over the crib and the floor.

Nat, 17 lbs is heaven for me! I seriously can't pick him up anymore.

i just can't wait until he can pull himself up in his crib so i don't have to bend over to pick him up. he just got up from a nap and i felt terrible because i couldn't bend to get him so i kind of had to hoist him by his arm into a standing position. i told him he needs to learn how to climb me like a little monkey.

my back is officially out and i am in so much pain. every little move i make sends intense pains shooting through my back. Crying or Very sad

i just took the last of my serious medication that helps. i try to save it for emergencies because it's from ireland and they don't sell it in the states, but now it's gone. Crying or Very sad

Shocked

does his doctor know how much formula he takes? i've heard babies shouldn't get more than 32oz a day because they can't handle more than that. maybe he needs more solids so you can cut back on his bottles.

finn gets 4 6oz bottles a day as well as cereal and fruit for lunch on the days when he's awake for it and 1 veg and 1/2 fruit for dinner. he put himself on a pretty rigid schedule, he gets a bottle at 8am, 12pm, 4pm, and 8pm.
