Introduction & Herpes Posted: 04-24-07 10:21am
this is a forum thread to let you know who
I am and information about herpes. This
thread is dedicated to the folks who have
herpes or have relations to people who are
affected.
thus said, I am not a victim of herpes;
but I have friends and know aquintences
who have the STD.
I have pure love & motivation for
learning and discussing health education
and knowledge! I constantly read and self
educate myself periodically. to relate my
personal information to this subject,
herpes are a sexually transmitted disease
(STD). I am one for constantly learning
new things...that said, if anyone has more
information on herpes simplex, please
quote and post below.
Herpes
there are two known types of herpes,
genital herpes [HSV2] and oral herpes
[HSV1].
to go into depth on Herpes simplex, it is
a viral infection caused by either of two
Herpes Simplex Viruses (HSV). Types of
herpes infections vary between
individuals. The majority cases that has
been showing up more and more often are
herpes [HSV2]. Genital herpes are a
widespead disease affecting an estimated 1
in 4 females and 1 in 5 males in America.
There are specific therapies that can
prevent outbreaks or decrease the risk of
having the virus transmitted to partners.
Sadly, there has not yet been a cure.
with Oral herpes, the lesions more and
likely occur on or around the lips, but
can occur almost anywhere that the virus
had first affected. HSV1 can and may occur
inside the mouth, including the tongue,
throat, cheeks, gums, and top of the
mouth. HSV1 can easily be confused with
canker sores or stomatitis.
**Irrelevant information**
stomatitis is small red bumps that occur
in the mouth. it is similar to canker
sores, though they are smaller and a
variation of different color and have much
different causes, such as hygeine, diet,
use of tobacco and smokeless tobacco.
all appearances of herpes very highly
among individuals. outbreaks can look like
a simple paper cut or chafing and possibly
can appear to be a yeast infection. the
symptoms of genital outbreaks may include
severe discomfort and burning when
urinating and discharge from the penis or
vagina; as well as, aches and pains in the
area.
with genital herpes In males, the lesions
usually occur on the shaft of the penis
and anywhere in the genital region. Also
they can occur on the anus inner thighs,
and buttocks.
with genital herpes In females, lesions
generally occur on or near the anus,
buttocks, vulva, labia, clitoris, or
pubis. if any outbreaks occur in these
areas, it is preferred that careful
examination takes place by a doctor. The
symptoms can be easily confused with the
symptoms of gonorrhea or chlamydia.
symptoms of herpes
Initial outbreaks generally are more
severe than later outbreaks. Like said
earlier, symptoms can look similar to
canker sores as well as symptoms of
chlamydia or gonorrhea.
Also symptoms can seem to occur like
flu-like symptoms and swollen glands for a
week or more. ensuing outbreaks tend to be
periodic and only last for some time.
herpes typically occurs four to five times
a year. Herpes outbreak occurances can be
increased by stress, fatigue, illness, and
more.
at first, when a Herpes outbreak occurs,
it is usually felt as a tingling and or
itching sensation in the affected area of
the outbreak. depending on how severe the
infection is, the outbreak then is
followed by a swollen reged area on the
skin, similar to welt. The ridged area can
be seriously painful to any manner of
touching. similar to an over contracted
pore that emits puss, the affect ridged
area will emit a virus laden clear fluid
for numerous days and then eventually
beginning to scab. After it has scabbed,
the lesion will heal completely within a
week. This routine will vary between
certain individuals due to the healing
rate of an individual.
Although the outbreak has temporarily
gone which symptoms might not appear up
to a month or more after infection..
meaning you still can affect a person who
doesn't carry the virus already without
ackknowledgement.
Herpes can be transmitted through direct
skin contact from where ever it has been
affected with an infected individual. less
common terms, but still plausible,
transmission of the virus can be performed
by indirect contact such as sharing
objects like a drink, lip balm, towels,
eating utensals, etc., and even kissing.
Prevention
alike all STDS, condoms are extremely
recommended in which more likely limit
herpes simplex infection to be
transmitted. Although, like we all know,
condoms are not completely effective. The
effectiveness of protecting someone from
herpes is fairly lowered by the virus in
female vaginal fluid such as cum, which
can cause infection around the base of the
penis or testicles that aren't covered by
the condom. also, condoms do not prevent
the individual wearing the condom from
spreading the infection to new areas
either on himself or on the female partner
if she is suffering from an outbreak. And
like wise with females, which is called
self reinfections.

You may have some book knowledge on
herpes.. but---truth be told-
you *really* don't know what it's like.
Regardless if you have friends that have
it or not... until you have it yourself-
you have *no* idea about the actual
feeling of it- and what it does to you
emotionally, and physically.
This is an insult...why not have someone
on here that actually has it--???
Last sexual encounter was march 17th of
this year...As far as I know the guy is
clean but it wasnt a boyfriend kind of
just a one night thing..Used a condom and
didnt (not responsible at all I know)
about 6 weeks ago I wiped after going to
the bathroom and felt a slight
sting...Looked with a hand mirror and
didnt see anything but there was a small
cut (tiny) near the opening of the
vagina--no raised skin/blister/bumps and I
put some neosporin on it---next day it was
gone
approx once a week/every 6 days maybe it
happens since then...I was on antibiotic
(strong ones) for my roseacea on my face
for 21 days...The last day was may 3rd
(the day I felt the stinging) and I was
itchy down there....Read that the
antibiotic causes severe yeast infections
in women and could also cause irritation
in that area...I am very prone to yeast
infection/bacterial infections....But I
have been exercizing reg, eating alot of
yogurt with live active cultures and
taking acidophillus regularly... Was not
allowed to take the acidoph while I was
one the antibiotics and was not getting
any yeast infections before the medicine
for quite some time...I am going to the
gyno next week but I really need to know
your opinion...Everything ive read so far
doesnt add up to herpes but I have never
gotten a paper cut-like/tear in the
perineal area (its by the opening to the
vagina kind of bet the bottom and the
vagina)--ive been down there with the hand
mirror prob a hundred times and I know for
sure there are no lesions, bumps, sores,
blisters...These outbreaks im reading
about dont seem to be similar and I feel
like this area of the skin down there is
severly irritated and tears as a
result---but I know I could be wrong...I
am seroiusly not sleeping b/c of this
sorry for the long email but im trying to
be as clear as poss--im so
