Heart murmurs are most likely due to an odd shaped valve, which may or may not allow some seepage past it when it is closed. With some murmurs it may be a good idea to be pre-medicated before dental procedures to avoid infection on that valve. Your doctor is the best source of information on your particular murmur.
Most people never have any real problems due to murmurs, some require surgery, some need watching.
If you are worried about heart disease also, I recommend reading "answers to heart disease by Wolff. Interesting and easy read that translates the latest research into everyday language. It always struck me as funny that so many people are on cholesterol meds and the rate of heart disease is still climbing, this book explains that. It also tells about studies where actual reversal of plaques occurred with out meds or surgeries, and how they accomplished this. Very cool.
Good luck and God bless!
