Dear All,
Need help please: Have been plagued with nausea/vomiting/no appetite for over 4 months (built gradually from last summer). Been up and down scoped, ultrasounded, CTscannned, tested for liver/kidneys/ulcers and no diagnosis. Could my wiring be screwed up? Am waiting on a head CT and appointment with gastroenterologist (June!). Have seen internist.
Starts in morning with urge to vomit and then excessive burping (sometimes I throw up burps!). Wasn't sure if the gas was making me want to upchuck or vice versa. Hard time eating, not just because of nausea, but also even favorite foods taste different. Have lost around 30 lbs. since Xmas and am now off work.
All ideas or suggestions gratefully received.

Barb,

Welcome to ehealth!

Honestly, they will probably diagnose you with .I.B.S. This seems to be what they label everything that they cant find a diagnoses for. Rolling Eyes

Anyways, have any of your doctors had you try a medicine called phenergan. It is for nausea and vomitting. I take it almost daily and my doctors have assured me that it completely safe to do so. You may want to speak to your doctor about this and see if this medicine would benifit you.

Keep us posted with your progress!

Nausea/vomiting 4 Months, Possibly Brain?
Dear mc4,
Thanks for taking the time to reply.
As far as i.b.s. is concerned, the whole thing seems to start in my throat/back of mouth. Tummy is usually alright. Weirdest things trigger it: unrelated memory, a smile...?
Various foods/drinks taste the same, e.g. 3 different, familiar liquids all had the same unfamiliar sour taste.
According to doctors and my sense of it, my bowels are not so much irritable as bored stupid and very confused.
Chucking up spit now.
Yours in the bathroom,
Barb

Has anyone looked into it being nerves? There are nerves that run all throughout your neck, head, and throat. When they are damaged or irritated they can cause all sorts of things that you would never think of as being nerve related. It is probably something that your neurologist will be able to help you with. I am sorry that you have to wait so long to see them. Hopefully, they will be of more help then me. In the meantime, you may want to look into the phenergan. It could at least help with some of the symptoms in the meantime. Sorry, I couldn't be of much help. Hopefully, someone else will be along to give some better advice.

Keep us posted with your progress!

hope you're better now
have you found out what the problem is yet? my 3 children and i had been sick for several months and we figured out that it was a certain kind of dishwasher detergent that was poisoning us because it wasn't rinsing from our dishes well enough. once we stopped using it we all got better.

I have been going through the exact same thing and no doctor can tell me what's wrong! They put me on medication for anxiety, but I'm not convinced that that is what it is. Any input would be greatly appreciated!
