Depo Provera Big Problems Posted: 04-18-07 07:42am
I don't
know about other people on this shot, but
I took it for 2 years (18-20) and stopped
because my husband and I wanted children.
Well I figured it would take a little
while for the shot to get out of my system
(I've heard up to a year) but I am now
fixing to turn 26 and still have had no
menstrual cycle, and of course no baby. If
anyone else has had this problem please
let me know if you have been able to get
it to where you actually had children.. I
need answers for this !!!!

Have you talked to your ob-gyn? I was on
Depo for five years. I have been off it
for about two. I got my regular periods
back within a few months. I don't know if
it has effected my fertility at all
though. I have not gotten pregnant. I
also did not know that Depo can cause
irreversible bone loss until I was off it.
I was young, like you, when I was on it.
I also did not know that it is not
recommended for young people until after I
was off it. Now, I don't recommend the
shot to anyone.

I was on the shot for over a year and it
mad me crazy! As far as going off of
it.... It took me over a year of being off
it and then I got pregnant. I didn't have
problems as far as my period goes. It took
me about three or four months to get my
regular cycle back. I hope this helps a
little. You know if you talk to your
OB-GYN they could give you a prescription
to make you get your period. I have taken
it and it is very effective.

I have only been on the depo shot for
three monthes and already HATE IT!!!! I
had my son on Jan 25 got the shot the
next day, and still haven't stopped
bleeding!!!!!! I have to go in next week
to get my next shot, but I don't think I
am even going to get it and try something
else because this is ridiculius!
