Q: Period Acting Weird

I posted a day or so ago that I was feeling really sick and was due for my period any day. Well I woke up today and was getting ready for work and I started having severe cramps. I know they are premenstrual cramps, but my period is taking forever to fully start. I have light brownish spotting and I also had some red light spotting when I wiped today, but it is coming and going. What's up with this?
