If ear damage is localized in the sound receptor in the inner ear (cochlea), acoustic nerve, sub-cortical acoustic nucleus, acoustic tract or acoustic brain cortex not much can be done. Surgery or a hearing device, however, can be administered if damage is located in the middle ear or outer ear.
