Q: Unable to Find Treatment For Shoulder Pain, Suggestions?

I have had pain in my shoulder for about a year now, I’ve tried several naprapaths, chiropractors, doctors and physiotherapists but without results.

It all begun when I was home for one day on my vacation and did some exercise of my back and chest, with free weights above my head, the "wheel" and chins. The day after I felt pain in my right shoulder between the shoulder blades. I stopped all exercise but the pain continued, after a few weeks a friend massaged a knot in my back in the affected area, after that I was swollen for a few weeks; the pain was constant during all this time. Since then I have a deep acing pain in the same area which is also affected by deep breath. I easily get tired in my right back mussels when using my right hand (elevating it) and the pain is worst in the mornings but gets better after a warm shower. I can also feel a bit more pain if I lay on my right side in bed or if I turn my head(to the left). I've never been week in my arm after the incident, only tired and pain.

I spend my days in front of a computer which also worsens the symptoms. I know I have a bad posture(FHP/upper crossed) and have corrected it during the last months with stretch and exercise for the upper back, but it does not affect the pain other than that it gets worse when the area is stretched and the mussels are used. I've only used light rubber band for the exercises but I get tired and the pain is worse anyway.

The treatments I have had includes anti inflammatory drugs, both injected and pills, training of the upper back region, stretches, massage. I've had a MRT but the doctor could not even see any scars on the mussels.

Here is a picture indicating the area: http://foto.henkis.net/gray-pain.png

Any suggestions what might be the source of this, treatments? I am running out of options Sad

Regards
Henrik

Seems as though you have tried everything i would have mentioned. Is it possible to get a second opinion. Have they done scans on the muscles and so on so confirm no tears (by the sounds of it yes but i thought id ask Smile).

Hopefully someone here will be able to help you.

Good Luck

Natalie
