Q: Pimples, pustules, or papules?...bumps on inner thigh
asked by: DoctorQuestion on April 17th, 2007
I have several small bumps on the inside of my thigh, they appear to be almost pimple like. Was not sure where to post this issue. I haven't had sex with anyone in quite some time and the partner's I've been with all tested clean the last few times they have gone. Also, the only time they seem to appear is when it seems that my jeans and/or boxer briefs were rubbing uncomfortably against my leg. They tend to shrink and go away after about a week or two, was just wondering what they might be. I have two pictures, located:

It seems that these "pimples" are actually skin lesions filled with either pus or pustules. It is impossible to conclude if the lesions are filled with vesicles and pustules, or not (papules). Pustules are typical during bacterial infections. Vesicles (pimples filled with serous liquid) are typical during herpes. Papules are typically allergic reactions due to contact dermatitis or can also be warts caused by human papiloma viral infections. You may consult your primary health provider to help diagnose the pimples ...or a dermatologist, if necessary.
