So I have never been too emotional at all. I always used to get along great with guys but then I started taking birth control. I am an emotional wreck and in my eyes am even more needy than I was than when I was a baby. Is there a birth control that is better for these problems? I would love to know?

prolly is the birth control

I too have the same problem, i'm super duper emotional and sensitive, everything my bf says, i take it to the heart. i'm giving him the silent treatment right now for saying the phrase "stop it" when told him that i miss him.

it sucks but u'll get use to it i guess?

hey,

i just replied on a similar post about this, so sorry if you read both. Smile

I used to take the combined pill and was exactly the same, so i stopped taking it. recently started a new relationship and decided to get some advice about birth control from my local fpc, the doctor me that oestrogen can cause moodswings and depression, and put me on the Progesterone only pill (cerazette), ive been on it almost a month and i feel great. I have had some bleeding for a couple weeks, but its light and she told me this would settle down and become more regular.

I'd definately recommend visiting your doctor again, there are alternatives out there and you shouldnt have to put up with the symptoms of those pills.

Birth Control can definately make you feel emotional. Different BC work for different people. Deporovera (needle every 3 months) made me depressed, pill was fine however i recently tried the Nuva Ring but had to take it out after 5 days as i was sooooo depressed. Back on the pill now and feel great. Just a matter of finding the method that is right for you. As they say if you dont succeed then just try again.

Good Luck

Emotional
I must say that I have been on a lot of different BC methods out there and I was the same way on most of them. The only BC that didn't have that effect on me was Ortho Evra Patch. The risks are greater than other types of BC but it worked the best for me.

The pill made me teary eyed. It was horrible!
I'm 25 and I've experimented with different types of birth control pretty much my whole life. I've tried the patch, the pill with higher and lower amounts of progestin vs estrogen, the ring, everything. Every time I switched brands, I hoped my mood wouldn't change. I mostly felt sadder, depressed, and cried easily when on the pill. It pretty much effected the quality of my life overall. I cant believe so many women don't know to correlate their mood with the drugs their taking every day! I started taking higher levels of B vitamins than were in a multivitamin alone and that helped. I also made an effort to eat b-vitamin rich food such as bananas, shell fish, and chicken. Magnesium and folic acid are a huge help as well and shown to be depleted by birth control. My only advise is to do your research on the full side effects of the pill and make sure you do everything you can to stay healthy.
