I have had acne since I was about 13 years old. Over the last two years or so it has been at a managable level. Recently I noticed that I have these bumps all over my face (quite densely positioned, too), underneath my skin. You cannot notice it that much outside or from a medium distance but if you look closely you can see a lot of it.

I gave into the infomercials and tried my hand at Proactiv. It worked for a bit but I couldnt use it that often because it would make me break out even worse. I moderated my use with it and it made it better, but my skin seems to be too complicated for it.

I've recently been trying to use an at-home micro-dermabrasion kit and it seems to make my pores and problem areas look less visible, though I am not sure whether to continue with that or find something that would just get rid of my acne first, before trying to cure my pores/scarring.

My skin is really oily at times, but in other instances I find it to be really dry with dead skin cells on the surface.

I guess my questions are:

1) What could the semi-invisible bumps be underneath my skin?
2) What kind of treatment should I use for my skin?
3) Has anyone here been able to free themselves from acne scarring?

the bumps could be from previous acne , i beleive but dont qoute me on that. Have you ever thought of going to the dr? They can give you prescription meds for your acne and possibly reccommend something to help with the scarring etc. I still have acne problems , i also just started birth control too wich doesnt seem to help, when i was on estrostep my face was really really clear but they dont offer that birth control here. I use medicated face scrubs now. Dont know much on something to help with scarring other then mederma. They sell it at like walgreens etc it might help reduce the scars.
