So here's what happened and the schedule, i was on antibiotics and on sunday i started my new pack of pills. i finished my antibiotics on tuesday. and i had unprotected sex on thursday. I know that the pills are less effective when you are on antibiotics, but i had a question about how many days after your period does your egg ovulate? if i keep taking my pills will i be okay?

So:
Sunday -- Pills and Anti
Monday -- Pills and Anti
Tuesday -- pills and Anti
Wednesday -- Pills
Thursday -- pills and unprotected sex

To be on the safe side, you need plan B. You should also keep taking your pill.

EACH woman is different, some women ovulate 14 days after their period, some women ovulate 18.

BUT, the pill changes your cycle. Your pill period is not a real 'period' it is simply a withdrawal bleed from lack of hormones.

You can easily ovulate in 5 days if you miss too many pills.

If you take the pill everyday, then you are okay.

The main thing to know is that you no longer have your 'regular cycle', you have the pills cycle.

Get plan b.

Antibiotics in most cases void the affects of BirthControl.
Plan B would be a very wise option.
And please remember for next time to use protection when on any Antibiotics. How ever, your practitioner should have warned you.

That's a misconception, pardon the pun Laughing

Antibiotics do not 'void' out the BC pill... This is what they do.. Basically, all medications go through your liver, and birth control is not any different.

Antibiotics SPEED up the process at which the hormones go through your liver, so sometimes not enough of the active ingredients make it through.

It does not cancel out BC, but it does greatly reduce the effetciveness.

*Giant Sad Face* fudge...i dont know why but i think it's a mentally problem im having cause i feel scared about plan b.....

i just keep telling myself that he only went in me for 5 seconds, but i know, the typical answer is: even those 5 seconds risk the chances of being pregnant.

i sound like a broken record....

Why fear plan B?

It is simply a higher dose of birth control, albiet without the estrogen.

I thought that it wasn't all antibiotics, just certain ones. Did the doctor who prescribed the antibiotics know you were on birth control? Did she say anything? Maybe it won't matter. I'd ask the doctor directly.

It depends.

Some doctors say 'some antibiotics', while other doctors will say all antibiotics.

I became pregnant while using a supposed 'safe' antibiotic, and I had an abortion.

I would say that it may not be worth the risk, no matter how small.
