Hi All,

I'm new here, but not new to the disappointment of trying to get pregnant and not having sucess. Anyway, My husband and I will be trying to get pregnant using the Instead soft cups sold at drug stores (normally used for periods). We plan to put his "seed" in the cup with some preseed lubricant (to increase volume and possible contact with my cervix). has anyone tried this and been successful...or unsucecessful? I know these cups are bigger than the conceivex brand thimble sized cups, btu these seem easter to "install" and don't cost 300 bucks for 3 cups. Please give me any experince you may have with using these for conception....PLEASE! Very Happy

Lori

There was another thread on here recently about using the instead soft cups. SOmething was said about the material they are manufactured with can be harmful to sperm. I would search for that thread. I believe it was last week. I will look and repost if I find it.

Good luck, I know how frustrating and heartbreaking it is when you have problems ttc. We have been trying for what seems like forever.

I wonder if there is online info about the testing they said that was done that denied them from using them for conception........on the website it says "The INSTEAD® Softcup® is made entirely of hypoallergenic, non-toxic, non-irritating, non-absorbent materials that have been used for more than 20 years in the health care profession. The INSTEAD® Softcup® reservoir is made of Polyethylene. It is non-irritating, non absorbent thermoplastic material that has been used for more than twenty years in health care items such as catheters and baby bottle nipples."

I understand that there are chemicals in everything...I mean laytex can hurt sperm but people get pregnant all the time when a condom breaks...I wonder at what point something is actually "bad" for conception and what point it's not FDA approved for conception.

My success story!
Hi babeez! I came across your thread and thought I could share my personal success story with you. . I know how many women are struggling with getting pregnant, and if I can offer any hope or ideas of things to try, I just want to put it out there. Back in 2004, DH and I had been spoiled when we conceived on the first try (read: Honeymoon) with our now 5 year old DD. When we started trying for #2 last August (07), I think we subconsciously thought - "oh this will be easy." Well, fast forward nearly 6 months and no positive pregnancy test. We are talking ovulation monitoring, EVERYTHING. Granted, I am now 35 and obviously our lives are a bit more stressful with work, having a toddler, etc. But still, it was becoming frustrating, especially feeling that we were doing everything we could do to "time" things right. Also, we knew in our heads that 5 months wasn't THAT long a time to try, but as I mentioned, we were eager, and our past experience made us impatient. We were truly becoming burnt out when a friend of mine mentioned that she was working with a company who had a product that had been getting a reputation on blogs and fertility message boards for helping women to conceive. Of course, having serious baby on the brain and desperate to try anything, I went home and Googled it and low and behold, many, many stories on other blogs from women who had had success conceiving with the help of the Instead Softcup.

My friend gave me some samples so we thought, what do we have to lose? The next ovulation period, immediately after BD-ing, (meaning I had it on the nightstand ready and inserted it right away), we used Softcup. We used it twice that month and two weeks later, got the wonderful POSITIVE pregnancy test we have been waiting for! Again, I just wanted to share our success in the hopes that it can help other couples struggling to get that positive test themselves. I was lucky to have a friend turn me on to Softcups, but I have found out that they can be purchased at many drug stores, Wal Mart, but I just heard that Target may not be carrying them anymore which is VERY disappointing as I know that they would be of value to SO many women- anyways, they are in the feminine products section, because their intended use is an alternative to tampons (which by the way they are great for too!). Don't be deterred by what they look like (literally like a bendable soft cup), as they are easy to use, VERY comfortable and most importantly SAFE (I have researched and gotten inside info from my friend who has insider knowledge because of the work arrangement). Good luck and happy pregnancy vibes!

Link on FDA and Instead Soft Cups
Here is a link that I found while looking into the instead soft cups, this web site talks about one case where a women couldn't get it out, hours later she tried again. She eventually went to the ER and had a dr remove it but said that she got dizzy and a headache from it (this is like 14hrs of using the soft cup). I'm still looking into everything I can find and will keep you posted if I find anything else, good luck!

Softcup has worked for so many people, even on the first try! It worked for us on the first try after trying to get pregnancy for 5 months. They do not kill sperm! Put one in after you have intercourse, leave it in for the whole night, take it out in the morning! There are so many testimonies right now for softcup, and they are true!!!

Instead Softcup as a conception aid
After 3 healthy and easy to conceive babies, we tried for 9 months to get me pregnant and nothing worked. I used the Instead Softcup ONCE and boom! Just like that, prefect baby girl. We've been trying again for almost a year now and nothing, so I am trying the cup again. I hope it's true and not just a coincidence. LOL Happy Baby-Making to all!

DarEsBaby, On average it takes about 3 months for couples to get pregnant with about 30% only falling pregnant after month 8 months. 5 months are thus not really a milestone to be worried about. Only after 12 months will doctors consider fertility issues.

Every little bit can help to get you pregnant. Ultimately, it is impossible to know what specifically helped you get pregnant. The SoftCup is just one factor that can help.

If you have learned to track your ovulation, how to time your intercourse and when to orgasm, how to manage DH's sperm production so that he has fresh and strong sperm when you can use it most, got a sperm friendly lubricant, cleaned up your (both you and DH's) lifestyle, the SoftCup can be just one more tool to help.

Remember to keep it fun! Having sex is not supposed to be hard work but fun for both you and your DH.

Best of luck TTC!

Stanley, SoftCups are disposable menstrual cups.

As a conception aid, they are used to pool the semen around the cervix. You can thus insert it after you ejaculated and catch the semen that way or ejaculate straight into it and then insert it. Make sure it fits around her cervix when you insert it.

Best of luck TTC!

instead cups
I have used the instead cups for 4 cycles now. they are not working for me!! We have been ttc for 2 yrs now, but my DH has a vericocele on both testicles which have brought his count down to 3 mil. BUT they are all swimming. We use preseed (most expensive lube in the world lolol but hey, whatever is best!) and we are DESPERATE to have a baby. He was scheduled to have surgery but insurance denied it. we are saving money for him to have the surgury this summer. we didn't want to spend our "baby money" on that just in case it didn't work. I wish the cups worked, I was so sure that they would after reading all I did online. hopefully they will work for you, best of luck!!!! We are almost desperate enough to purchase spells on ebay lololol!!!!!! (except i am afraid my child would come out with 2 heads and a demon soul lol)

Desperate
My husband and I have been trying to conceive for about a year now. Never any luck. If you use the SoftCup during a period would it still be as effective?

I am not quite sure what you mean. The purpose of the Softcup is the same as lifting your behind on a pillow afer sex - you pool the semen close to the cervix.

Your partner must ejaculate inside the cup (after masturbation, pullout or hand job, but not fellatio) before inserting it at the top of your vagina. Once there, the semen will lquefy in the normal manner over the next 15 to 30 minutes, releasing the semen to find its way to the cervix).

During menstruation, Softcups are used to pool up the menstrual debris inside the cup (works like a tampon but it does not absorb the flow). Normally a woman is not fertile during menstruation. So unless you ovulate during or very soon after menstruation, trying to ue it for conception does not make any sense.

Best of luck TTC!

it works!
We started using soft cups to try to conceive. We used these cups along with using the clear blue monitor. Everyday of high fertility and peak fertility (according to the monitor) we inserted the instead cup filled with semen once a day. I left the cups in over night and took them out in the morning before going to work. For the days that my cervical mucous was not egg white we used pre-seed lubricant. I also took mucinex and evening primrose daily. After one cycle of ttc using this method we are pregnant. So this method does work!!!
