Q: Anyone Heard of the Lvi Orthotic Yet?

Hi all, in my continuing search for relief from my TMJ symptoms I have gone back to my TMJ dentist. He made me a series of splints last year which I did not wear consistently cause they were HUGE, I was working then and I couldn't even talk or eat with them in. Now he is going to try this semi-permanent one that looks like veneers, is thin and gets glued in. If it works they take it out and go to reconstructive dental work to correct my bite. I talked to a woman there who has been wearing it and she said she hasn't had a headache since she got it in. I figure this way I will know if rebuilding my bite will work or not before I commit to it. I also figure I need to keep trying whatever is reasonable since I am at this point on pain meds most of the time , and they arent even getting rid of all the pain. Also I have a new symptom, dizziness, isn't that a fun one. : Rolling Eyes I am getting this new splint next week. wondered if anyone else here ever tried it? My dentist says it is pretty new.

Hi Metalcrystal,
I had never heard of the lvi orthodic so I did some research. From all the research I have done on balanced bite and now this lvi orthodic, I would say that it looks promising. Very promising. In many cases of TMJ, it is because the bite is imbalanced. It just makes sense. I have another source to get information and I will check there to see if anyone is familiar with this device and get back with you. I hope and pray that you are doing well. Please take care.

God bless...
Carol

Carol, thanks so much! i'm sure you know how discouraging it is to search for answers when you are in constant pain. My TMJ dentist says I have the biggest gap in the midline (between your front teeth and bottom) in his practice right now. I am not sure I am saying this correctly. I have a crossbite, too. In the 60s they pulled several teeth for orthodontic work, to make my teeth look prettier. I have done so much reading and tried "cures", and I really believe that my pain is from this bite problem, combined with a slight scoliosis that was diagnosed when I was little but never addressed. I also am a pretty anxious person, so I think these are all contributing factors. I still think correcting my bite will be helpful. Maybe I am just being hopeful! It would be so great to get off the painkillers. Please let me know if you find out anything else. It is sooooo nice of you. Crystal
