I know this is extremely obsessive-compulsive, and probably sounds completely stupid, but does anyone know the chances of the "deadly black"
Aspergillus niger mold growing on small bits of wet wood, such as the reeds for a saxophone?? I made the mistake of trying to keep mine moist by keeping the whole reed-guard in a plastic bag, and I just discovered today that whitish mildew had started growing without, and greeish-black mold growing on the reeds themselves. I trashed the reeds, and am soaking the guard in ammonia, but what are the chances of me getting sick from any of this??? Yesterday, I remember smelling an odd smell about the reeds that I found out to be associated with the mould today, and I used one of the now-gone reeds yesterday.....
I know it's probably nothing and that it might not be known for sure, but should I be fine?
