hi all-

my name is bridgett, i went to the doctor 2 weeks ago and told her that i wasnt feeling good, i recently started to loose alot of weight like 40 lbs very quickly so i thought maybe it was stressed or something. she gave me a complete physical and blood work and told me that i have a thyroid problem and i need to see an endocrinologist. i was 232lbs i am now 187lbs in like 4 months. the endocrinologist is saying that they can not see me until July. I am very weak, tired, i sweat alot, i am dizzy and scared. what will happen once i see the endocrinologist?

Hello

Was there any scans done at this point, or procedures what soever????
And even uif the doc says you have ea thyroid problem, it could be so many things. Hang on best you can and see what happens. How ever, if you feel that bad, you might want to give your doc a call and get things moving in your favor. Some cases are more urgent than others.

Regards

Thanks Larry D-

I had blood work and scans done. I did see the endocrinologist April 19th after i kept complaining to my primary doctor. He called me today an informed me that i have graves disease. They hospital is going to call me once they have my appointment set for a radio iodine treatment. thanks for responding!

Yeah, your thyroid is definitely racin'. Hang in there, Graves is treatable. Shame it has such a scary sounding name (!) but you should be fine once they figure out exactly what's best for you--which they will.
Love and prayers,

thanks so much for that information. It has been a tough struggle. Just today i was feeling very weak so i called my doctor. He gave me a prescription of metoprolol 50 mg, he wrote the prescription for me to take it twice a day but the pharmacy made a mistake and i have been taking it 4 times a day. When i called the pharmacy they said "oops we made a mistake" i was furious, i told them that a mistake like that can cost someone there life. It is bad enough that i am a nervous wreck and dont have any energy they are overdosing me!! Shocked

You'll be ok, but let's be honest, it sucks in the meantime! I hope you don't hold it against your family that they don't understand what you're going through. They can't. The only people who can understand are those who have been through it or are going through it. Keep reaching out, there are people out there for you who know just how you feel. It is very scary when your heart races, isn't it? I am many years out from my thyroid cancer now, but every once in a while I'll get palpitations you can hear across the room! It seems to be one of those things you never quite get used to. But almost, so there's hope!
Prayers and hugs,
Richard Day Gore

Graves
I hope you are feeling better by now. I had Graves disease 20 years ago. I ended up having a 90% thyroidectomy. In recent years it has been up and down! Just last week I found out I was over medicated, losing weight like crazy and feeling horrible. People don't realize how thyroid affects our whole being. It is tought for the docs to get just right, hang in there!

Yeah, having thyroid problems means getting used to NOT getting used to things!

hey!
if i were you i would stop by you local doctor.
having a low thyroid can make you feel extremely weak and cause heart palpatations. so i would have them do some blood work!
and any kind of illness stresses out a family. the best thing you can do is not let it get to you.
good luck and keep your chin up!
