Bad Abdominal Pain For 7 Weeks Only 15 Help Posted: 04-10-07 05:19am
hi im 15 years old and had my appendix out
7 weeks ago. Since then the pain that i
had hasn't gone away. Whenever i eat i
have very very loose watery stools
basically diarrhea. I will go to the
toilet at the least 8 times a day and the
pains in my stomache spreads i sometimes
have a fever that comes and goes. I feel
like i had my appendix out for no reason
they said it was extremely inflamed. I was
in hospital last weekend and they did a
ultrasound but where i was very dehydrated
they couldnt see anything because my
bladder wasnt full he said as far as he
no's he couldnt see anything. they did a
blood test everythng come back "normal"
but the doctor said their was some
inflammatory but they could be caused by
the diarrhea. I was on antibiotics (i dont
no why) and they havent helped its
affecting my social life becuase if i walk
around to much i get servere bad belly. at
the hospital they also did a stool test
which they couldn't find anythng so they
sent me home saying it could just be a
"bug" but to me it dosent seem like a bug
as i've had it for seven weeks i cannot
handle this anymore can anyone please
please give me some advice on what to do
about it please thanks for your times

I am not sure of the tests you have had
done thus far. I think it would be a wise
idea to see a gastroenterologist. There
are many things which can cause problems
such as these, which I would hesitate to
speculate on since I am not sure of
exactly what symptoms you are having.
Perhaps you could share more information
about this?

I am a GI doctor's nightmare, but this is
information I have garnered through my
experience and research:
IF
you have foul-smelling diarrhea that
floats, with bouts that come on suddenly
you have intense abdominal cramping with
feelings of being feverish, nauseated and
sweaty
you have nasty smelling gas with bloating
you are very tired, fatigued and have no
energy
you have an elevated CRP and low iron
You could have Celiac Disease. It is an
intolerance to gluten found in Wheat Rye
Oats or Barley, which causes damage to the
upper part of the small intestine. It is
a very serious condition, but is treated
with a strict gluten free diet for life.
The treatment is difficult at first, but
the nice thing is that you never have to
have surgery medications or additional
treatment. It is diagnosed by endoscopic
biopsy.
In your case, it sounds somewhat like
Celiac Disease. There are other
conditions such as Irritable Bowel,
Crohn's Disease, or Ulcerative Colitis.
Honestly, I think sometimes Doctors like
to call things irritable bowel syndrome,
when in fact it is something else.
I hope you find the answer you are looking
for. Please keep us posted as to your
progress. If it does turn out to be
Celiac Disease, please let us know, as I
can give you a lot of helpful info on
that.
Peace.

I hope you get good news from the doctors.
People who have colitis or crohn's still
go on to lead full and happy lives, but
they do have to deal with flare-ups now
and then. Some times medications like
steroids can help. Sometimes surgery is
needed. Take a deep breath, relax, and
don't hit the panic button until you find
out exactly what you are dealing with.
Then come back and let us know so we can
help.
