Hi my name is matthew i was just wondering i have been on accutane for 5 months and then came off of it and my spots we all go until now as i am getting a few around my neck area i dont really want to go on accutane again as if you just have to keep getting treatment after treatment there is no point really. i am now cleaning my self with soap in the morning and night and a moisturiser at night to make sure my skin dont get too dry. would any1 be able to tell me if that will keep the spots away thanks.

In addition to cleansing your skin it also helps to eat a clean diet (cut back on sugar and fat) and drink lots of water.

Some experts will say diet has nothing to do with acne, but most acne sufferers will say that it plays at least a small part in your skin condition.

Good luck!

I used accutane for 7 months and have been off for 2.5 years and it WORKED GREAT. My acne was pretty bad and accutane cleared 90% of it and now only get a couple zits (always in pairs, never single- can't figure that out) every 1-2 months. I'm using a prescription cream currently the doctor gave once I was done accutane. Accutane was expensive but well worth every penny. I used almost every over the counter acne medication, except proavtive and found nothing really worked well for me.

I can definately advise proactive as well. One of my housemates uses it and he laughs because he says he always sounds like an infomercial when he talks about it. He really loves it though, and he's got great skin because of it. He, like me, was also on a ton of medication as a kid to try and get rid of acne. Both of us have used basically everything on the market, except accutane... One time I was on an antibiotic for acne and I couldn't drink milk or eat cheese for 6 months. Another pill worked but made me really nauseous.

I'm 22, and I almost went on accuataine once when I was 20. As I am female and sexually active, I had to get on birth control first. Luckily for me, the fear of accutaine mixed with a better hygiene regiment and the birth control pills cleared up my acne, so I never needed accutaine. My housemate just never had enough money, lol.
