Treatment for belly button pain
I'm wondering if ice or heat would help this left side belly button pain? I'm presuming it is bruising from the rod.

Belly Button Pain
I'm 17 years old one of the youngest people my general surgeon has done the gallbladder surgery on, i got my surgery done 4-5 months ago and i have a pain on the left side of my belly button, which is on the opposite side where the incision was made. I have an appointment in 2 days, but its been there since the surgery. It hurts when i press it, and the skin itches around it, what is this from?

Bruising and pain below belly button after gallbladder sx.
I had my gall bladder removed just recently ... January 8, 2013. I just had my staples removed and I'm having horrible bruising and stabbing like pain just below my belly button. It was going away before he removed the staples, and now it's back full force. keeping fingers crossed that pain and bruising go away soon. Hurts to sleep.

Pain around Belly Button 3 weeks after surgery
I had GB removed almost 3 weeks ago and have been resting and not over doing things. All 4 scars have healed nicely but the pain around my belly button is worrying. Dr says it's normal as this is the one incision that would have been considerably stretched during the operation? I need to return to work on Monday and I am worried about sitting at a computer all day as sitting in an upright position, moving to a standing position or changing position when lying down, all cause a fair bit of dis-comfort in this area. I hope things will improve over next few weeks!

Laparoscopic Cholecystectomy (Post-op comments)
I have been having a hard time wearing jeans, but when I wear lose things, it is better. I just had my two-week follow-up appointment with my surgeon, who said the incisions are healing nicely. However, just the other day, I noticed that my scabs in my belly button are beginning to look so weird, like a small umbilical cord coming out of my body (I know that sounds crazy). I also feel sharp, stabbing pains in and just above my incision, which is possibly due to the healing process. I was told by my surgeon to take it easy for the next couple weeks, and then my life should be back to normal. If I had any questions, I should contact him.

I just got mine out too. This wasn't something my doctor said to be normal. I would call in. You may need to be restitched. Mine hasn't bled.

Good luck. Smile

Galbladder removal 2 weeks out
Hi. I am having the same pain only it's to the right. It hurts so bad from sitting to standing sometimes I have to limp. I have called my doctor twice and they tell me to wait. I definitely think it's the way the incisions are healing.

Also, for anyone who reads this... there is a natural supplement from Biotics called Beta Plus that helps your body digest the fat in foods after this surgery. You should be able to find it online. The nausea and vomiting some are writing about is from the body no longer having the bile that digests fat.

Good luck everyone! Wishing you all a better recovery.

Wow. It has been almost 2 weeks since I had my gallbladder removed. I am having a burning pain right where the incision is on my belly button. I feel like my incision is not healing properly. It tries to scabbut for some reason if it gets rubbed or if my shirt rubs up against it the scab comes rit off. It burns all day and every once in a while, if I bend over or sit up from laying down, I get a sharp pain by the incision and right above the belly button. I hope thesis normal. It sounds like almost everyone has some form of pain at the belly button incision spot. I hope everyone's pains heal soon.

Pain on Right Side
Today is Day 12 after having a gallstone removed from my bile duct, an infected gallbladder full of stones removed, as well as an umbilical hernia the size of a golf ball removed. I have four incisions total, one of which is on my bellybutton. Yesterday was the first day that I didn't have to deal with sharp, nagging gas pain in my neck and shoulders that hurt with every breath I took as well as abdominal pain from the surgery. I am, however, experiencing the same sharp pain on the right side of my bellybutton. I notice a lot of people stating that they are having pain on the left side. I guess everyone is different! I am curious to know what it is being caused by. Good to know it's not just me! Taking Lyrica and Tramadol for pain, and it helps greatly.

I had my gall bladder removed 9 days ago, and I'm still in so much pain! It was such a mess, that the surgeon had to make an 8 to 10 in incision, just to get it out! I've been worried, about still hurting so much, but I guess it makes sense, they did go in & remove an infected body part! Good luck to everyone!!

Hi,
2 weeks ago I had laparoscopy and Im still experiencing awful pain behind the right hand side of my belly button although my stitches were never infected. It hurts to laugh, cough and getting out of bed. All the replies Ive seen here talk about the left side... is anyone having them on the right side? Im getting very depressed because I was hoping to get back on track after the procedure. My gallblader infections were so bad and that could not have a normal quality of life but now this pain almost equals them! Can some one give me a bit of hope that there is a "cure" for this issue please????
