I went to the doctor 12 days ago for a poison ivy rash. He put me on predinsone. The rash has gone away on my face and neck, but now I have a rash all over my arms, legs, back and stomach. This rash looks different because they are random and not in clusters. I am female, 52 years old and am on the following medications:
Metformin HCL ER 500mg a day
Zetia 10 mg a day
Welchol 6 tablets a day
Levothyroxine 25 mcg a day
Effexor XR 75 mg a day The itching from this rash is driving me crazy and I haven't been able to get back to the doctor, what can I do for the itching, can I take Benedryl? I have been putting an anti itch cream on the rash but it only helps about 5 minutes.

HELP!

I would get back to the doc, you may be having a reaction to the cream he gave you. I wouldn't say no to taking benadryl but untill you know what is causing this rash I would hold off.
