Q: Post Partial Hyst - do I have my period w/o bleeding?
asked by: DoctorQuestion on April 5th, 2007
I had a partial hyst 4 weeks ago and I know this may sound crazy but, I feel as though I have a period right now. I am not bleeding however, I feel crampy, achy, tired and nasty, just like I did when I had a period. Ironically, right now would be the time I would have a period and like I said, I am not bleeding just have all the other symptoms. Am I crazy? I was going to call my OBGYN however, I thought I would give this a shot first. Help please...Is this just in my head?

Hysterectomy Answer A2586
If the ovaries remain inside the body and the functional sex hormones are still produced, you will continue to feel their monthly level variations...but will not experience menstruation because your uterus has been removed. There is nothing to be worried about. The symptoms you report are normal and expected for a woman with functional ovaries.
