Q: Clomid Questions?

Hi everyone,

Well, I had my first appt with a fertility specialist and it went well. He is going to start me on Clomid, but he will not do that until my husband has a semen analysis. Is this standard? My dh doesn't care, his words were "It will only take a minute" Laughing

Assuming everything goes well with his swimmers, I will be starting Clomid in May. Are there any side effects I should prepare myself for? I really didnt want to go this route, but I am excited if it will help. Any info you have would be great.

Clomid
Hi Mrs Ltd
Any good RE will send your dh for an SA to make sure that he is ok before they start focusing on treating you. Sometimes the issue may lie with dh.
I'm on my first cycle of clomid. I'm on cd 28, and I normally have a 26 day cycle. So one side effect is a delayed menstral cycle. I think some women have delayed ov too, so my advice would be to keep a temp chart to determine when you ov.
I didn't have too many other side effects. I had hostile cm, some slight pulling sensation cramps in my lower ab, but that is it! Some women say they get headaches, mood swings, hot flashes. But everyone is different!

Good luck this cycle! Many women have success on clomid their first try. I still haven't started af, but I don't think I'm preg because I have absolutely no symptoms. I'm probably just delayed because of clomid. Cruel side effect Confused
Take care. cpr

Just because you have not symptoms doesn't mean it's not possible. Have you tested?

I tested 2 days ago...BFN
If AF doesn't arrive by saturday, i will test again.
It's weird, approching AF, I usualy have huge sore bbs. And now...nothing. I've had zero PMS symptoms. People say the the first sign of pregnancy is big sore bbs. So that's why hopes are not so high.

Hello
I have taken 3 months of clomid. I ovulated the 4th this month. I am now begining my 2ww. I am a little pesemistic at this point and already feel like we failed again this month. My doctor asked us to use opk and start bd on the day it is positive and every other day from that day for a total of seven days.
This was his instructions due to 2 m/c and my husband's sperm count. he is 51%...not too bad, but not that great either. I think his mobiity was a little low...
Basically have both of you checked and follow your doctor's instructions.
For me, my cycle dates did not change much. I use opt to determin my ovulation. My doctor wants me to take clomid on days 2-7. My cycles are average of 32 and I ovulate between cd 15 and cd 18. I use clearblue happy face and it has not yet failed me.

My first two months I just got painful ovulations and really bad cramps on my first day of my periods. This month I experienced headaches as well as nausia a bit as well. Every body is different and some people have no side effects at all. Good luck to you.

Thank you so much everyone.

I hope I didn't come across like a b**** when I said "this isn't the route I wanted to take" because I know alot of you are on Clomid and it has helped many people have their babies. I said that because I am really scared about taking any medication. I didn't really want to post this, but I had a kidney transplant 5 years ago, and getting pregnant will be really hard for me. I got freaked out when I heard about taking anymore drugs. My transplant doctors are very supportive and don't have any problems with me ttc. I guess I just overreacted.

Well, that's my story!

Thanks again for the replies

You didn't come across like a b. Laughing I personally will not be doing anything (temp/charting/meds) for the first year. Were just letting things happen Rolling Eyes (Not my choice).

If your doctors are behind you then you should be concerned, just sit back and try to have fun ttc! Wink
