Q: Keep Baby In Your Room Or Nursery

When you have your babies or when you did have your children, did you have them in your room all the time at the hospital or did you send them to the nursery at night?

I personally sent her to the nursery, she wasn't breathing and such when she was born, so I was afraid she would die in my room or something. I was such a freak.

Well
I want him/her in my room. No exceptions unless there is a medical problem. I don't want him/her in the nursery at all. Like I said, as long as their are no med. Problems.

I kept my kids with me most of the day then sent them to the nursery at night. I need all the rest I can get before I go home!

I was kinda afraid I would get the wrong baby when I went home..Haha or that someone would steal her! But they had a security box on her umbilical cord and if she got within 5 ft of an exit or stairway or elevator..Alarm would go off and all doors would lock.

Really Good ?
Sara,
this is a really good question, I would want her with me always. I would have to send her to the nursery def. If there was a problem or such. At night time I might also send her there. It is true, we need all the rest we can get before we go home. I will be worried as hell though. Its like, I just got her, now I have to hand her to you, lol

Australia has a rooming in policy, all babies where possible ( except sick babies) are left with their mothers, I had both my girls with me at all times, with cailey I had her at 438am on saturday the 1st and went home on monday the 3rd at 1030am, a little over 48 hours, whith amber I had her at 1038pm on the 19th and left hospital at 1pm on the 20th, we have an early release program here, its great 'cause the midwives come to your house, but I definatly wanted them with me all times

Guess I am different, I kept sean in the nursery at night, and sometimes during the afternoon like when he was sleeping and a lot of people were in the room, I knew he needed his rest. He was my sweetie. Plus I had just had a csection so I was really tired, and couldnt move around much at all..

Hope you understand

Whats there to understand? Every woman is diffrent and every situation is unique, no one is better or worse than anyone else just because they chose to do things diffrently to some one else..... As mums we should do what feels right, then our babies will be happy........

Not all hospitals allow you to keep the baby in the room all night because of all the risk. A kidnapping while you fall asleep, you things like that. I think I would prefer my baby in the nursery during the night, it safer if you fall asleep. Especiallt after a c-section, you need a little time to recover before you go home.

Thanks for sharing ladies and I didnt know that about the policy in australia, also micks cousin had her kids (she got 4) and by the time shari came (#2) she had her in the morning and was out the afternoon of the same day and it was like this for the next 2 kids the only time she stayed in hospital was with the 1st.
