Q: Vaginal discharge: menstrual blood or signs of infection?
asked by: DoctorQuestion on April 4th, 2007
i've been having sex with my boyfriend for the last 5 months (we're 10 months now) and we don't use any protection but withdrawal.. now, i'm having something coming out of me. i don't know if it's a discharge or a period because it's brownish then sometimes it's reddish. the last time my period ended was two weeks ago and i really think it's weird if this is a menstration because it's not yet 1 month before i get my another period. my mom's asking me if i had sex w/ my bf and i keep on saying no, and she said this happened to her while she was pregnant w/ me. she keeps on having small amounts of period and short days and when she had a check-up, she was pregnant with me. do you think i'm pregnant? 'cause my bf and i are not yet ready for a child. what could be the cause of this happening to me? is it a discharge or a period?

Neither vaginal discharge nor spotting are signs of pregnancy. Vaginal discharge and spotting can be present, no matter if a woman is pregnant, or not. The only way you can find out if you are pregnant or not, is to take a home pregnancy test. No matter the result, you can visit a gynecologist to distinguish if your vaginal discharge, is blood or not.
