Q: Newbie Question/lupus & Iud/birth Control

I have been diagnosed with sle, actively taking meds for the last 7 yrs or so. Also on the pill, but my doctor told me to stop taking them - get IUD or think about getting tubes tied. I'm 39. don't know if I will ever have children. Anyone else using IUD? Heard horror stories -- I'm trying to get information.
