So we had .Wic today & they weighed & measured .Kaylee.
She's 15 lbs 8.5 oz & 24 3/4 inches long.
I asked the lady if she was doing good for her age & she said yes then she punched everything in to her computer & she is in the 53rd percentile for her weight & only the 23rd for her height Crying or Very sad Crying or Very sad
She told me it's nothing to worry about but I don't know. 23rd is awfully low.

That's about how my nephew is. He's perfectly healthy, just small for his age. I wouldn't worry about it too much if I were you. As long as she is eating well, there is not a lot you can really do.

Thanks ladies.. I know it's nothing to be worried about, I don't know why it got me so flustered. I guess just the thought that she could be developing slower or something? & just the way the lady said "23rd percentile for height".. Ugh Twisted Evil ..As if .I'm doing something wrong.

yeah, the whole percentile thing is crap. It puts a standard in that everyone else "should" be in. It's like when we go to the doctor and get weighed and then look at the chart and find that our weight for our height puts us in the "overweight" class. even though we don't look or feel it.

Your daughter is beautiful and she looks perfectly healthy. There is nothing wrong with being small for your age.

My mom is pretty small but my sister & one brother are both bigger than me. Shane is 6'1 & 140 lbs so he's tall & skinny. Maybe .Kaylee will just be short like her mama Smile

Trace is like in the 7th percentile i think...and its perfectly fine. the doctor said he is following his curve. thats the only percentile curve that matters. wic is lame.

Wow I didn't realize how many peoples babies were in the lower percentile when obviously all the babies on here are healthy. I can't believe they'd even go by that. I hate going to wic.. The only thing they're good for is the formula.. & .Gen that's crazy they tried telling you that you weren't doing good enough! I would have spazzed.

yeah the lady was full of crap....my child is perfect. so i don't give a medical answer what they think....it was wrong....but it turned out that i don't qualify anyway. I buy maybe 2 cans of formula a month anyway....my aunt and grandma want to buy the baby stuff so instead of toys they buy formula and diapers everyweek....its great. and i also just ran out of my breast milk so i may be buying more now....but hell 3-4 cans a month vs. 8 or 9? I am all about that.

That's great that your aunt & grandma help out like that! It's crazy how much formula costs. We're on .Similac .Alimentum & it's about $25 a can & that's just one of those small cans Shocked So with our wic we get 4 cans each check & it's $100 just for 4 cans of formula..

You might want to check .sams .club for formula. They have those huge cans. I'm not sure what the prices are (we don't use it) but it's worth looking into if a family member has a membership.

hey i know it sucks...we are on neocate ( my son couldnt even tolerate the amount of milk in alimentum) and its $32 for a little 14 oz can that is gone in about 2 days. we go though 16 cans a month total. wic gives me 8, and medicaid pays for 5, and then we usually have to buy one....but if it wasnt for wic, we wouldnt be able to pay for neocate....and my son would basically be forced to drink a formula he is allergic to. i hate wic sometimes, but i am really thankful for them.
