Q: At Home Pregnancy Tests

I think that at home pregnancy tests have some secret chemical in them that makes me start my period. It never fails, if I am one week early or one week late...whenever I take a test I start my period the next day.

Does anyone else see this trend?

In my profession, we call that a selection bias. Laughing

Now I'm going to show my geek side...

If the population randomly took pregnancy tests - men and women, on bcp and not, ttc and not, any day of the month/cycle - then you probably won't get that trend. Cool

Most tests are probably taken by women who are ttc. (women who are unexpectedly late probably take fewer tests.) To avoid a false negative, these women take the test close to when af is due. Since the odds of getting pregnant are 25% or less, that means that 75% or more of the tests will be negative right before af shows up. Razz

Sorry it happens for you.
Well i dont really like those HPTs because if you have one your mind will force you to test, & mostly girls will end up heart broken, so i never keep them at home Laughing .

I only tested once with a HPT ( in my 12 cycles ) & that one test gave a BFP.

Hope it happens for you soon.
