Hi everyone. My name is Rebecca, me and my husband have been trying to get pregnant since 2005. I have completely avoided any forums, ovulation predictors, taking temps or appointments with "specialists" because I didn't want to accept the fact that we were having problems conceiving. I have finally decided it's time. I need people to talk to, and a plan of action. I have no idea where to start. I have read all of your posts, and I don't even know what some of the abbreviations are for the pregnancy terms! If anyone has any advice on where to start I would be so thankful. You all seem like such a nice, close group of people. Thanks in advance and congrats to the new mommies to be!

Rebecca

Hi Rebecca, welcome to the forum! I am sure you'll love it here, all of the ladies are very supportive and knowledgeable.

There is a sticky at the top of the page that has a listing of all of the abbreviations. (I still refer to it from time to time. There are quite allot Laughing )

Are your periods on a regular cycle? That is the easiest place to start!

Thanks for the response! It really is so nice to have people in the same boat. I am sad I didn't do this sooner.

Yes, my periods are very regular. My cycle is 32 days, and period lasts for 5-6 days.

I was told as a teenager that I had small cysts on my ovaries, but I haven't heard anything about that since then at my yearly appts.

Does taking your temp work? I am thinking it is a timing problem for us. With us both working so much, maybe we are missing the fertile days?

Thanks again

Welcome to ehealth. YOu will like it here, everyone is really nice and very helpful. I have been kinda officially trying to conceive for about 7 months now, but I have been off of birth control for almost 7 years and nothing yet. We have not been to the doctor yet other than my gyno, but we will probably be going in the next few months.
Hope you get the answers you're looking for. Stick around, you will really like all the girls here.

Temping helps you tell after the fact that you ovulated. To time correctly, you should also try to predict ovulation and your fertile days. There are lots of ways to predict ovulation. Including tracking cd, taking opk tests, and tracking the position of your cervix.

What advice has your ob/gyn given?

Best of luck!
