Q: Bump on clitoral hood: tumor or growth?
asked by: DoctorQuestion on March 24th, 2007
I gave birth to my first child 13 days ago. He had to be delivered using forceps but apart from that everything was fine. I had 3 tears, 2 inside and the 1 on the outside - its an unusual place for a tear to be - its above the vaginal opening, just below my clitoral hood. However since giving birth I have a lump the size of a pea on the left of my clitoral hood. It doesnt hurt and its the same colour as the rest of my vagina. Almost like a growth. Ive shown the midwife and she said she thinks it will just go on its own - however its been nearly 2 weeks ands its still there. I dont like it and my boyfriend said it was off putting so obviously I want it gone before we start having sex again. But what the hell is it??? Im going to book an appointment with my doctor at the end of the week if it shows no signs of going. Any help would be good, thanks.

It is not possible to diagnose a “bump on the clitoral hood” without seeing it. However, it sounds like you might be experiencing a benign skin tumor, a wart or something similar... but only a gynecologist can give you an appropriate diagnosis. You can make an appointment with a specialist.
