Q: Prostate pain during orgasm & BM's
asked by: DoctorQuestion on March 24th, 2007
After going to the toilet and afterwards having an intensive orgasm (or sometimes even without going to the toilet - stool) i experience great pain in the perineum area and mainly in the anus itself. It feels like a cramp and it lasts from 5min to 2 hours. There is nothing really i can do to deminish the pain (sitting, lying, walking).
I don't know whether this is related to my going to the toilet (since this "cramps" can appear also when i go to the toilet the day before and have a intense orgams the day after) or with the intensity of the orgasm (if i hadn't had one for a couple of days), or if it's a problem with the prostate (proctitis, prostatitis, proctalgia fugax, levator ani, maybe even cancer). Haven't been to a doctor yet but i should probably go as soon as possible. Any help (suggestions, experiences, etc.) would be much appreciated.

Perineal pain during an orgasm or bowel movement could be due to some type of prostate disorder, probably inflammation of the prostate. During orgasm, the smooth muscles of the prostate contract and can cause pain if the prostate is inflamed. During a bowel movement, stools in the rectum create pressure on the prostate that may also provoke pain. You can visit a urologist for an expert opinion. Laboratory analyses of the sperm will be probably requested.
