Q: Stomach Pains In 3rd Trimester

If ultrasound for gallstones comes out negative, what else could be causing stomach pains under my ribs? I asked the doc if it could be the baby getting under my ribcage, but he thinks it may be hormone related or pressure on intestines. I am just worried pain may escalate. This is the first time I have felt this discomfort in 3 pregnancies. However, my first 2 were boys and this is a girl. Maybe this has something to do with it?

I promise you one thing: it has nothing to do with your baby's gender. Every pregnancy is different, even with the same parents.

I'm not sure what's causing your pain, though. I would follow up with your doctor. Good luck!

I have no idea what causes that but this is my first pregnancy and I occasionally feel the same pains. Sad It seems to come and go a few times a week and most noticble sometime during the night either when I'm laying down and relaxing or when I'm chilling sitting up. I just figured it to be a normal thing since a few of my friends have claimed they had the same thing happen to them during theyre pregnancies. I'd keep informing the Dr. on it if it becomes worse and try to keep track of when it happens to if your worried about it. Like write down time, position your in, how your day was that day you experience it and what you have ate, stuff like that in which maybe the Dr. can figure it out from you describing more. Just an idea, goodluck with the rest of your pregnancy! Smile
