For those of you with older babies, do your kids go off and play alone? I just rearranged .adriana's room and organized everything and now she'll go in there and play for quite awhile. If I go in there she gets kind of mad, and then she loses interest and follows me around until I pick her up. If I manage to peek in on her without her seeing me, she'll stay in there for an hour or so. Is she too young to play in her room by herself? It's childproof in there, and there is nothing she can get into....so is there any harm in this? She's growing up too fast. Sad

As long as you stick your head in and check on her from time to time, I don't see any harm in it. Kids need to learn to play independently sometimes too; it's good for them.

Trace has been doing this for a few months now. he is so independant now it makes me sad. of course there are still days where he likes to be held but for the most part he will play on his own for quite a while at times.

I'm glad to hear others do this too....I used to feel irresponsible, even tho I know I'm not. She used to like to play in there before she was able to get around, and then I stopped letting her play in there, and brought her out to the living room....but now she likes it in there, so I just let her go wherever now. She's the little queen of the roost!

Josephs 19 mths he just recently started playing in his room, mind u there isnothing up there like his spongebob table he could push out and get hurt on, i want it in his room to match it but he cant be trusted and since he goes up the stairs alone now fine i let him play up there, the bathroom door is locked and the other room is empty so nothing at all he can get into, he can stay up there for an hr or so. Its kinda good sometimes i can get stuff done while hes up there and not getting into my stuff Smile when he was younger he never went up there at all, we had it blocked off and he played down here.

i think it's great that adriana wants to play on her own, independence is a good thing. as long as you check on her frequently, i don't see the problem. i would take advantage of it if i were you!

josephs all independent but then he wants to be picked up etc. i was nervouse when he first went up stairs alone, like i always feared he would fall down but he is cautious . His room is currently trashed with toys everywhere the child has soooo many, im gonna clean it next week after im through babysitting it woudl be pointless now since him and lexy play up there when i babysit and them two throw toys all over.
