According to your description of not getting pregnant after more than a year of trying to conceive, it seems that you are experiencing sterility. Sterility is not only your problem but also your partner’s. Several medical diagnostic procedures have to be done to identify the possible cause for a case of sterility. Your partner can be examined first because a spermogram and functional tests are easier to perform. If everything tests ok with him, then it's your turn for diagnostic tests. Standard examinations for female sterility include: a vaginal examination, PAP-test, tests for STDs (especially Chlamydia), vaginal ultrasound, hormonal analyses (FSH, LH, estrogen, progesterone, prolactin, thyroxin etc.) and HSG. Hysteroscopy and laparoscopy can be done later, if necessary.
