Q: Lab Not Under Contract

I had a couple of visit to a hospital to take blood and urine test.
My insurance company, PPO, covered all the cost except for this.
The lab that the hospital sent the samples to was not within network.
The reason he explained about choosing the lab is that he is dealing with only that lab. I wasn't aware of all of these facts. Am I still responsible for this?

unfortunatly yes. before you have procedures done, you need to contact your group and have them advise you what labs/doctors/hospitals/facilities are in your network...and you can advise your doctor of this and he can refer you out to another facility to do your lab work....

your doctor most likely has a contract with this company...however you have the right to request that you got to another lab for your tests.
