Q: Mono Diagnosis

I was wondering what was the most accurate test for diagnosing an ebv infection. I've had a positive anti-EBV IgG result with quite high antibody titer (175 AU/mL - negative: <20). Is it possible to find out if it's a recent or an older infection?
Last summer I had an episode of what may have been acute mono infection but it wasn't diagnosed properly. Now I'm still trying to find out what it was especially since I still have related health problems- it seems to have affected my liver. Has anyone on the forum had mono-triggered hepatitis?
Thank you for your input!
